Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes while adhering to traffic laws and safety protocols
- Conduct pre-trip inspections and maintain vehicle cleanliness and mechanical soundness
- Supervise student behavior and enforce safety rules during transit
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and dispatch regarding delays or incidents
- Complete accurate daily logs and incident reports as required
- Assist students with mobility needs and ensure proper seating/seatbelt usage
- Participate in seasonal route training and safety recertification programs
Qualifications
- Valid Louisiana Commercial Driver's License (Class B with Passenger endorsement)
- Minimum 21 years of age with clean driving record (no major violations in past 3 years)
- Pass federal background check and DOT physical examination
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist students with mobility challenges
- Strong communication skills and patience when working with children
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Ability to work early morning hours (5:00-7:00 AM) and afternoons (2:00-5:00 PM)
- Previous child care or transportation experience preferred
