Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes while adhering to traffic laws and safety protocols
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure mechanical safety
- Supervise student conduct during transit, maintaining a respectful atmosphere
- Assist students with boarding/alighting, including special needs accommodations
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and transportation coordinators
- Maintain accurate attendance and route documentation
- Respond appropriately to emergencies following district protocols
Qualifications
- Valid Wisconsin Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger endorsement (training provided if needed)
- Clean driving record with no major violations in past 3 years
- Pass federal background check and DOT physical examination
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist students with mobility needs
- Strong communication skills and patience when working with children
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous driving experience preferred but not required
- First Aid/CPR certification (training available)
