Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following strict schedules and traffic laws
- Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and mechanical integrity
- Manage student behavior with firm yet compassionate guidance to maintain a secure environment
- Accurately maintain student attendance and incident documentation
- Communicate professionally with parents, school staff, and dispatch regarding route changes or concerns
- Adhere to all federal/state transportation regulations and district policies
- Assist students with mobility needs including wheelchair securement when required
Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
- Minimum 3 years of professional driving experience with clean driving record
- Pass background check and DOT physical examination
- First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate wheelchair lifts if applicable
- Strong communication skills and patience when working with children
- Knowledge of Louisville metropolitan area geography preferred
- Ability to work flexible hours during peak seasons (e.g., field trips)
