Responsibilities
- Safely Transport Students: Drive the school bus route in a safe, timely, and courteous manner to transport students to and from school and school-related activities.
- Ensure Passenger Safety: Monitor student behavior, ensure safety during loading and unloading, and maintain order on the bus at all times.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any mechanical issues immediately to maintain fleet safety.
- Route Adherence: Follow designated routes and schedules strictly, adapting to traffic conditions professionally.
- Communication: Maintain open communication with dispatch, school administrators, and parents regarding delays or issues.
- Cleanliness: Keep the bus interior and exterior clean and sanitary at all times.
- Emergency Response: Assist students in the event of an emergency and follow all safety protocols.
Qualifications
- Valid CDL: Must possess a valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a School Bus endorsement.
- Clean Record: Must have a clean driving record (no major traffic violations within the last 3-5 years).
- Background Check: Must pass a criminal background check and drug screen.
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Physical Health: Ability to pass a DOT physical examination and have the physical stamina to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Customer Service: Excellent interpersonal skills and the patience to work with children of all ages.
- Reliability: Must be punctual, responsible, and committed to safety.
