Responsibilities
- Safe Operation: Safely transport students to and from school and school activities, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Student Supervision: Maintain order and discipline on the bus, ensuring the safety and well-being of all passengers during the route.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the bus is in safe operating condition and report any mechanical issues immediately.
- Route Adherence: Follow assigned routes and schedules efficiently, communicating any delays or changes to dispatch promptly.
- Emergency Procedures: Follow emergency evacuation procedures and handle first aid situations when necessary.
- Communication: Maintain clear and professional communication with parents, school staff, and dispatchers.
Qualifications
- License: Valid California Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements required.
- Clean Record: Must possess a clean driving record and be insurable under the district’s insurance policy.
- Background Check: Must pass a fingerprinted background check, drug screen, and TB test.
- Experience: Previous school bus driving experience is a plus, but not mandatory; we provide training for qualified candidates.
- Character: Must demonstrate patience, responsibility, and a genuine interest in working with children.
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), stand for extended periods, and have good vision and hearing.
