Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following traffic laws and safety protocols
- Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and functionality
- Supervise student behavior and maintain a secure environment on the bus
- Assist students with boarding, exiting, and securing seatbelts
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and dispatch
- Maintain accurate attendance and incident reports
- Adhere to strict schedules and punctuality standards
Qualifications
- Valid Louisiana Driver's License with clean driving record
- Ability to obtain Class B CDL with Passenger (P) endorsement (training provided)
- Pass background check and drug screening
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist students with mobility needs
- Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
- Patience and ability to work with children in a positive manner
- Basic knowledge of Baton Rouge geography
