Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following strict schedules and traffic laws
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety compliance
- Supervise students during transport, maintaining orderly and secure environment
- Implement emergency procedures and first aid when necessary
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and dispatch team
- Maintain accurate records including mileage, incidents, and student counts
- Adhere to all federal, state, and district transportation regulations
Qualifications
- Valid Kansas Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B with Passenger endorsement (or willingness to obtain)
- Clean driving record with no major violations in past 3 years
- Pass background check, drug screening, and physical examination
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and assist students with mobility needs
- Strong communication skills and patience working with children
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum 21 years of age
- Previous child transportation experience preferred
