Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following strict schedules and traffic regulations
- Conduct pre-trip inspections and maintain vehicle cleanliness/maintenance logs
- Supervise student behavior during transit and enforce safety protocols
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and dispatch regarding route changes or incidents
- Adhere to special transportation requirements for students with disabilities
- Complete mandatory training and certification programs
Qualifications
- Valid Indiana Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with School Bus (S) endorsement
- Minimum 2 years professional driving experience with clean driving record
- Pass background check, drug screening, and DOT physical examination
- Ability to obtain required CPR/First Aid certifications
- Strong communication skills and patience when working with children
- Knowledge of Fort Wayne area streets and traffic patterns
