Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes adhering to strict schedules and traffic laws
- Conduct pre-trip inspections and maintain vehicle cleanliness
- Supervise students during transit, ensuring a respectful and secure environment
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and transportation coordinators
- Implement emergency procedures and manage student behavior professionally
- Complete accurate daily trip logs and incident reports
- Adapt to route changes and weather-related adjustments
Qualifications
- Valid Indiana Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with School Bus endorsement
- Minimum 2 years professional driving experience
- Pass federal background check and DOT physical examination
- CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain
- Exceptional communication and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs for emergency evacuation drills
- Flexibility for early morning/afternoon shifts
- Experience working with children preferred
