Responsibilities
- Safely transport students to/from school, field trips, and extracurricular activities
- Conduct thorough pre/post-trip inspections of district-provided buses
- Maintain strict adherence to traffic laws and district safety protocols
- Manage student behavior with positive reinforcement and clear communication
- Operate specialized equipment (wheelchair lifts, safety harnesses) as needed
- Report maintenance issues and complete daily documentation
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, and transportation staff
Qualifications
- Valid Texas Class C CDL with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
- Minimum 2 years of professional driving experience
- Pass DOT physical examination and drug screening
- Clean driving record (no major violations in past 5 years)
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and operate wheelchair lifts
- Strong interpersonal skills with students and parents
- Completion of state-mandated bus driver training
- First Aid/CPR certification preferred
