Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following strict schedules
- Conduct pre/post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety compliance
- Manage student behavior with patience and positive reinforcement techniques
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and dispatch
- Adhere to all federal, state, and district transportation regulations
- Maintain accurate records including incident reports and mileage logs
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and inclement weather protocols
Qualifications
- Valid Alaska Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger and School Bus endorsements
- Minimum 2 years driving experience with clean driving record
- Pass DOT physical and drug screening
- Child Passenger Safety Certification preferred
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist mobility-impaired students
- Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to work flexible hours including early mornings and occasional weekends
