Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes in Anchorage's urban and rural areas
- Conduct pre-trip inspections and ensure vehicle maintenance compliance
- Manage student boarding, seating, and departure procedures
- Implement emergency protocols and maintain student discipline
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and dispatch
- Adhere to Alaska DOT and federal transportation regulations
- Maintain accurate route logs and incident documentation
Qualifications
- Valid Alaska Commercial Driver's License (Class B) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
- Minimum 1 year professional driving experience
- Pass federal background check and DOT physical examination
- First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and assist mobility-impaired students
- Fluency in English; bilingual candidates encouraged
- Clean driving record (no major violations in past 3 years)
