Responsibilities
- Transport students safely to and from school and school-sponsored activities in compliance with all traffic laws and district safety policies.
- Maintain a clean and orderly school bus, ensuring the interior and exterior are kept in excellent condition.
- Monitor student behavior on the bus to ensure a safe and respectful environment, assisting students in getting on and off the bus safely.
- Follow designated routes and adhere to strict timetables to ensure students arrive at school on time.
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and dispatch regarding student pick-ups, drop-offs, and any behavioral or safety concerns.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to verify the bus is mechanically safe and operational.
- Assist in loading and unloading students, including those with special needs, following all safety protocols.
Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B with Passenger and School Bus endorsements.
- A clean driving record with no recent major traffic violations or DUI convictions.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check, including criminal history and fingerprinting.
- Must be at least 21 years of age (required by Texas state law for school bus drivers).
- Ability to pass a physical examination and drug screening.
- Strong customer service skills and the patience to work with children of all ages.
- Willingness to complete required state and district training programs.
