Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses following strict DC traffic regulations and school district protocols
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure mechanical safety
- Maintain accurate attendance records and student manifests
- Communicate professionally with parents, school staff, and dispatchers
- Manage student behavior with patience and positive reinforcement
- Respond appropriately to emergency situations and follow safety protocols
- Adhere to strict maintenance schedules and report vehicle issues promptly
Qualifications
- Valid DC Commercial Driver's License (Class B with P/S endorsement)
- Minimum 2 years of driving experience (commercial preferred)
- Pass background check, drug screening, and DOT physical
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work flexible hours (early mornings and afternoons)
- First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong commitment to child safety and customer service
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist students with mobility needs
