Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes adhering to traffic laws and safety protocols
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of buses to ensure mechanical safety
- Manage student behavior with positive reinforcement and maintain order during transit
- Assist students with boarding and exiting the bus, including those with special needs
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and transportation supervisors
- Respond to emergencies and follow crisis management procedures as needed
- Maintain accurate records of routes, incidents, and student counts
Qualifications
- Valid Arizona Driver's License with clean driving record (no more than 2 moving violations in 3 years)
- Ability to obtain Arizona Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger and School Bus endorsements
- Pass DOT physical and drug screening as required by federal regulations
- Minimum 21 years of age with high school diploma or GED equivalent
- Experience working with children preferred but not required
- Strong communication skills and ability to remain calm under pressure
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist students with mobility needs
- Must pass background check and fingerprint clearance
