Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following traffic laws and district policies
- Conduct pre-trip inspections and maintain vehicle cleanliness
- Supervise student behavior during transport ensuring a safe environment
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and transportation coordinators
- Adhere to strict safety protocols during emergencies and adverse weather conditions
- Maintain accurate attendance and route documentation
- Assist students with boarding/exiting and special needs accommodations
Qualifications
- Valid Washington State Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with School Bus endorsement
- Pass DOT physical and drug screening requirements
- Clean driving record with no major violations in past 3 years
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist with mobility equipment
- Strong communication skills and patience when working with children
- Flexibility to adjust routes for field trips and extracurricular activities
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience with children preferred but not required
