Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following strict schedules
- Conduct pre-trip/post-trip inspections of assigned vehicles
- Ensure student safety during loading, unloading, and transit
- Maintain orderly conduct on the bus per district policies
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and dispatch
- Adhere to all federal/state transportation regulations
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and student needs
- Complete daily logs and maintenance reports accurately
Qualifications
- Valid North Carolina Commercial Driver's License (Class B with P/S endorsement)
- Minimum 3 years driving experience
- Clean driving record (no DUIs in past 5 years)
- Pass federal background check and drug screening
- First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and assist mobility-impaired students
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Patience and ability to work with diverse student populations
