Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following all traffic laws and safety protocols
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure mechanical safety
- Maintain a disciplined, respectful environment for student passengers
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and transportation supervisors
- Adhere to strict schedules and maintain accurate passenger records
- Respond calmly to emergencies and follow established incident procedures
- Assist students with boarding and exiting the bus, including mobility needs
Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
- Minimum 2 years of professional driving experience
- Pass background check, drug screening, and DOT physical examination
- First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with children
- Knowledge of Washington, DC roadways and traffic patterns
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist students with mobility devices
- Clean driving record with no major violations in past 3 years
