Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes adhering to strict safety protocols
- Conduct pre/post-trip vehicle inspections ensuring mechanical safety
- Maintain student discipline and create a positive bus environment
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and dispatchers
- Follow all federal/state transportation regulations and school policies
- Document incidents and maintain accurate route records
- Assist students with boarding/exiting and special needs accommodations
Qualifications
- Valid Michigan CDL with School Bus (S) endorsement
- Minimum 2 years commercial driving experience
- Clean driving record (no major violations in 3 years)
- Pass federal background check and drug screening
- First Aid/CPR certification required
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and navigate bus steps safely
- Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
