Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following traffic laws and district policies
- Conduct pre-trip inspections and maintain vehicle cleanliness
- Supervise student boarding/deboarding and enforce safety protocols
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and dispatchers
- Complete daily trip logs and incident reports accurately
- Adhere to emergency procedures and student management techniques
- Maintain professional conduct while representing the district
Qualifications
- Valid California Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- School Bus Driver Certificate (or ability to obtain during training)
- Pass Department of Transportation (DOT) physical and drug screening
- Clear background check and fingerprint clearance
- Minimum 1 year driving experience preferred
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist students with mobility needs
- Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
- Patience and compassion when working with children
