Responsibilities
- Safely operate school bus routes on fixed schedules while adhering to traffic laws and safety protocols
- Conduct pre-trip inspections of provided equipment to ensure mechanical safety and cleanliness
- Maintain a secure and positive environment for students through consistent behavioral management
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and transportation coordinators regarding route changes
- Complete accurate daily logs, incident reports, and maintenance documentation
- Participate in ongoing safety training and emergency preparedness drills
Qualifications
- Valid Indiana Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with School Bus endorsement
- Minimum 2 years of professional driving experience with clean MVR record
- Pass federal background check and DOT physical examination
- Ability to obtain required school bus driver certification within 30 days
- Strong communication skills and ability to manage student behavior effectively
- Physical ability to assist students with mobility needs and emergency evacuations
- High school diploma or equivalent required
