Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes adhering to traffic laws and safety protocols
- Conduct pre-trip inspections and ensure vehicle maintenance compliance
- Supervise student conduct and enforce safety rules during transit
- Maintain accurate records of routes, student counts, and incident reports
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and dispatchers
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow crisis management procedures
Qualifications
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
- Minimum 2 years professional driving experience
- Pass DC DMV background check and DOT physical examination
- First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and assist students with mobility needs
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
- Fluency in English; Spanish proficiency a plus
