Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following strict safety protocols
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure mechanical safety
- Maintain orderly behavior of students during transit and enforce safety rules
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and transportation supervisors
- Adhere to all federal/state transportation regulations and school district policies
- Assist students with boarding/exiting and provide mobility support when needed
- Complete accurate attendance and incident documentation
Qualifications
- Valid North Carolina Commercial Driver's License (Class B with P/S endorsement)
- Minimum 1 year professional driving experience
- Pass federal background check and drug screening
- Excellent driving record with no major violations
- Ability to obtain DOT medical certification
- Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
- Experience working with children preferred
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist students with mobility needs
