Responsibilities
- Safely operate school bus routes adhering to traffic laws and district schedules
- Conduct pre/post-trip vehicle inspections and maintain clean buses
- Ensure student safety through proper loading/unloading procedures and emergency protocols
- Communicate professionally with parents, students, and school staff
- Manage student behavior with firm yet compassionate guidance
- Adhere to all Kansas DMV and USD 259 transportation policies
- Complete daily route documentation and incident reports
Qualifications
- Valid Kansas Driver's License with clean record (minimum 2 years driving experience)
- Pass DOT physical and drug screening
- Ability to obtain CDL Class B with Passenger endorsement (training provided)
- Experience working with children preferred
- Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist students with mobility needs
- Background check clearance required
- High school diploma or equivalent
