Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following NJ traffic laws and school policies
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
- Supervise student conduct during transit ensuring safety protocols
- Maintain accurate attendance and incident reports
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and dispatchers
- Adhere to strict maintenance schedules and emergency procedures
- Provide first aid assistance when required
Qualifications
- Valid New Jersey Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with School Bus (S) endorsement
- Minimum 1 year professional driving experience
- Pass DOT physical and drug screening
- NJ School Bus Driver certification or ability to obtain within 30 days
- Clean driving record (no more than 2 moving violations in 3 years)
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and assist students with special needs
- Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
- Background clearance through NJ Department of Education
