Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes while adhering to traffic laws and safety protocols
- Conduct pre-trip inspections and ensure vehicle maintenance compliance
- Manage student behavior with professionalism and implement district safety procedures
- Assist students with boarding/alighting and ensure proper seatbelt usage
- Maintain accurate route logs and incident documentation
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and transportation supervisors
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and weather-related route adjustments
Qualifications
- Valid North Carolina Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
- Minimum 1 year of professional driving experience
- Pass DOT physical examination and drug screening
- Clear criminal background check and driving record review
- First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to lift 25 lbs and assist students with mobility needs
- Strong communication skills and patience working with children
- Reliable attendance and punctuality essential
