Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following all traffic laws and district policies
- Ensure student safety through proper boarding, seating, and exiting procedures
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to maintain operational readiness
- Manage student behavior with firmness and compassion while maintaining a positive environment
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and transportation coordinators
- Adhere to strict schedules and maintain accurate route documentation
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and unexpected situations
Qualifications
- Valid Ohio Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with School Bus (S) and Passenger (P) endorsements
- Minimum 1 year professional driving experience
- Pass DOT physical examination and drug screening
- Clean driving record with no major violations in past 3 years
- Ability to obtain First Aid/CPR certification (provided by district)
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with children
- Flexibility to work early mornings and afternoons
