Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following strict traffic laws and safety protocols
- Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle readiness and report maintenance needs
- Supervise student behavior during transport and enforce district policies
- Maintain accurate attendance records and communicate with parents/school staff
- Adhere to emergency procedures and special transportation requirements
- Complete daily trip logs and documentation as required by district/state regulations
Qualifications
- Valid Florida Commercial Driver's License (Class B with P/S endorsement)
- Pass DOT physical exam and drug screening
- Minimum 21 years of age with clean driving record
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist students with mobility needs
- Strong communication skills and patience when working with children
- Completion of school bus driver training program
- Background clearance through Florida Department of Education
