Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following strict schedules
- Conduct pre/post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance
- Manage student behavior with positive reinforcement and safety protocols
- Maintain accurate attendance and route documentation
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and dispatch
- Adhere to all federal/state transportation regulations and school policies
- Respond professionally to emergency situations and student needs
Qualifications
- Valid North Carolina Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
- Minimum 2 years professional driving experience
- Clean driving record (no moving violations in past 3 years)
- Pass DOT physical and drug screening
- Background check clearance through NC SBI
- First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist students with mobility needs
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and patience working with children
