Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following strict safety protocols
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
- Maintain orderly behavior among students during transit
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and transportation supervisors
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local transportation regulations
- Assist students with boarding and exiting the bus, including special needs accommodations
- Complete accurate incident reports and mileage documentation
Qualifications
- Valid California Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger endorsement
- Current Department of Transportation (DOT) medical certificate
- Passive school bus driver certification training
- Clean driving record with no major violations in past 3 years
- Ability to pass background check and fingerprint clearance
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience and ability to work well with children
- Basic knowledge of Bakersfield area geography
