Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses following all DC traffic regulations and school district protocols
- Conduct pre-trip inspections and maintain vehicle cleanliness and mechanical safety
- Supervise student behavior during transit, ensuring a respectful and safe atmosphere
- Adhere to precise routes and schedules while communicating effectively with dispatch
- Document incidents and maintain accurate passenger manifests
- Provide excellent customer service to parents, school staff, and community members
Qualifications
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
- Minimum 2 years professional driving experience
- Pass DC Metro Transportation Authority background check and drug screening
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Excellent communication skills and patience when working with children
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist students with mobility needs
- Clean driving record with no major violations in the past 3 years
