Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following strict safety protocols
- Conduct pre-trip inspections and vehicle maintenance checks
- Manage student behavior with firm yet compassionate guidance
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and dispatch
- Adhere to federal/state transportation regulations and district policies
- Assist students with boarding/exiting, including mobility support needs
- Complete accurate incident reports and documentation
Qualifications
- Valid Alaska Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
- Pass DOT physical examination and drug screening
- Clean driving record with no major violations in past 3 years
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist students with mobility challenges
- Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
- Prior experience working with children preferred
- Ability to work in Alaska winter weather conditions
- High school diploma or equivalent required
