Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes while adhering to traffic laws and safety protocols
- Conduct pre-trip inspections and report maintenance needs promptly
- Supervise student conduct during transit and enforce bus rules
- Assist students with mobility needs (wheelchair lifts, seatbelts)
- Maintain accurate attendance and route documentation
- Communicate effectively with parents and school administrators
- Respond calmly to emergencies and unexpected situations
Qualifications
- Valid Louisiana Commercial Driver's License (Class B with P/S endorsement)
- Clean driving record (no DUI/DWI in past 5 years)
- Pass federal background check and DOT physical
- Minimum 1 year professional driving experience
- Child CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to lift 25 lbs and operate wheelchair lifts
- Fluency in English (Spanish/French a plus)
- Knowledge of New Orleans geography
