Responsibilities
- Safely Transport Students: Drive school buses along assigned routes in a safe and timely manner, ensuring the comfort and safety of all passengers.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to verify that the bus is clean, mechanically sound, and safe for operation.
- Student Management: Maintain a safe and orderly environment on the bus, enforcing school safety rules and managing student behavior professionally.
- Route Adherence: Follow designated routes and schedules accurately, adjusting as necessary to handle traffic and weather conditions.
- Communication: Interact professionally with parents, school staff, and dispatchers regarding student pickups, drop-offs, and any delays.
- Administrative Duties: Complete daily logs, incident reports, and attendance sheets accurately.
Qualifications
- CDL Required: Valid Commercial Driver’s License (Class B) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.
- Driving Record: Clean driving record with no major moving violations in the past 3 years.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Background Check: Ability to pass a criminal background check, drug screening, and physical examination.
- Experience: Previous experience driving large vehicles is preferred but not always required; training may be available.
- Soft Skills: Patience, strong communication skills, and a genuine passion for working with children.
