Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following strict schedules and traffic regulations
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure mechanical safety
- Maintain order and discipline among students while providing a positive travel experience
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and dispatch regarding route updates
- Adhere to all federal/state transportation laws and safety protocols
- Assist students with boarding/exiting and special needs accommodations when required
- Complete accurate daily trip logs and incident reports
Qualifications
- Valid North Carolina Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with School Bus Endorsement
- Minimum 2 years of safe driving record with clean MVR
- Pass DOT physical examination and drug screening
- Ability to obtain First Aid/CPR certification (provided)
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with children
- Flexibility to cover substitute routes during peak demand periods
- Basic mechanical knowledge for minor vehicle troubleshooting
- Background check clearance for working with minors
