Responsibilities
- Safely transport students to/from school and field trips on assigned routes
- Conduct daily pre/post-trip vehicle inspections and maintenance checks
- Enforce bus safety rules and maintain orderly conduct among students
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and transportation dispatch
- Adhere strictly to traffic laws, district policies, and child safety protocols
- Complete accurate trip logs and incident reports as required
- Assist students with boarding/exiting and special needs accommodations
Qualifications
- Valid Michigan Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with School Bus endorsement
- Minimum 2 years driving experience with clean driving record
- Pass federal background check, drug screening, and physical exam
- First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain
- Ability to work early morning/afternoon hours and occasional weekends
- Strong communication skills and patience when working with children
- Knowledge of Detroit metro area streets and traffic patterns
- High school diploma or equivalent required
