Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following strict schedules
- Conduct pre-trip inspections and maintain vehicle cleanliness
- Ensure student safety through proper boarding procedures and seatbelt enforcement
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and dispatch
- Adhere to all traffic laws and Honolulu Department of Education protocols
- Manage student behavior with patience and positive reinforcement
- Complete incident reports and maintenance documentation accurately
Qualifications
- Valid Hawaii Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with School Bus endorsement
- Pass background check and DOT physical examination
- Minimum 1 year driving experience or equivalent training
- First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist students with mobility needs
- Fluent English communication skills
- Child safety training certification preferred
- Must be available during morning (6-8 AM) and afternoon (1-3 PM) shifts
