Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following traffic laws and safety protocols
- Conduct pre/post-trip vehicle inspections and basic maintenance checks
- Manage student behavior with positive reinforcement and safety-focused discipline
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and dispatchers
- Maintain accurate attendance and incident reports
- Ensure proper child loading/unloading procedures at all stops
Qualifications
- Valid Michigan driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to obtain Class B CDL with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
- Pass DOT physical and drug screening
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and assist students with mobility needs
- Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
- Prior experience working with children preferred
