Responsibilities
- Safely Operate Vehicles: Drive commercial trucks and vans efficiently and defensively to ensure timely delivery of goods in New York City and surrounding regions.
- Vehicle Inspection: Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to verify mechanical safety and report any maintenance issues immediately.
- Cargo Handling: Load, unload, and secure cargo properly, ensuring weight distribution is correct and items are protected during transit.
- Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, traffic laws, and company safety policies to maintain a clean driving record.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records, including mileage logs, delivery receipts, and electronic logging device (ELD) data.
- Customer Service: Interact professionally with customers and warehouse staff at delivery sites, resolving any issues with courtesy and efficiency.
- Route Planning: Follow designated delivery routes and schedules to ensure optimal productivity and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Valid CDL: Possess a valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with the required endorsements.
- Medical Certification: Hold a current Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Examiner’s Certificate.
- Driving Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of verifiable commercial driving experience preferred.
- Clean Record: Must have a clean DMV record with no more than one minor moving violation in the last 3 years.
- Background Check: Ability to pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.
- Age Requirement: Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Communication: Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to use handheld scanners and delivery management software.
