Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial Class A trucks and trailers within a local delivery radius in the Chicago metropolitan area.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) and company safety standards.
- Load and unload cargo using proper lifting techniques and equipment to prevent damage.
- Maintain accurate logs using ELD (Electronic Logging Devices) and adhere to all traffic laws and regulations.
- Provide exceptional customer service to clients at delivery points, ensuring professionalism at all times.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch regarding traffic delays, route changes, or cargo issues.
Qualifications
- Valid CDL Class A license with a clean driving record (MVR check required).
- Minimum of 1 year of verifiable driving experience.
- Ability to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination and drug screen.
- Strong knowledge of Chicago roadways and local traffic patterns is highly preferred.
- Physically fit with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform repetitive tasks.
- Must be available to work night shifts (typically 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM).
- Reliable personal vehicle for getting to and from the terminal.
