Responsibilities
- Operate commercial Class A tractor-trailers in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to all FMCSA and company safety regulations.
- Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections (DVIR) to ensure vehicle readiness and identify potential issues.
- Load and secure cargo safely, utilizing proper tie-down techniques to prevent damage during transit.
- Maintain accurate electronic logging device (ELD) records and logbooks in compliance with Hours of Service (HOS) rules.
- Deliver freight to customers in Portland, OR, and surrounding areas including California, ensuring on-time arrival and professional customer interaction.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and safety personnel regarding route changes, traffic delays, or mechanical issues.
- Uphold a clean driving record and maintain a professional appearance at all times.
Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A issued by the state of Oregon.
- Minimum of 1 year of verifiable Class A driving experience preferred.
- Current DOT medical card and physical examination certificate.
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) with no more than 3 minor moving violations in the last 3 years.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
- Willingness to work night shifts (typically 10:00 PM - 8:00 AM or 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM).
- Basic English reading and writing skills for logbook compliance and safety communication.
