Responsibilities
- Safely transport students to and from school on assigned routes adhering to strict schedules
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure mechanical safety
- Implement student management protocols to maintain a secure and orderly bus environment
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and transportation coordinators
- Follow all Nebraska Department of Transportation and district safety regulations
- Manage emergency situations calmly and according to established protocols
- Maintain accurate attendance and incident documentation
Qualifications
- Valid Nebraska Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
- Minimum 2 years professional driving experience
- Pass background check and DOT physical examination
- First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist students with mobility needs
- Strong knowledge of Omaha metropolitan area streets and traffic patterns
- Commitment to student safety and professional conduct
