Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes adhering to traffic laws and safety protocols
- Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and report maintenance needs
- Supervise student conduct, enforce safety rules, and maintain orderly bus environment
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and dispatch regarding route changes or incidents
- Maintain accurate records of student ridership, attendance, and vehicle mileage
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and provide first aid when necessary
Qualifications
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
- Minimum 2 years professional driving experience with clean driving record
- Pass federal background check, drug screening, and physical examination
- Ability to obtain Maryland Department of Transportation certification
- Strong communication skills and ability to manage student behavior
- Basic first aid and CPR certification preferred
- Must be at least 21 years old with high school diploma or GED
