Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following strict traffic laws and CPS safety protocols
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and functionality
- Manage student behavior with professionalism and create a positive, secure environment
- Maintain accurate records of mileage, student counts, and incident reports
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and transportation coordinators
- Adhere to CPS emergency procedures and weather-related protocols
- Assist students with mobility needs as required by their IEPs
Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with School Bus (S) and Passenger (P) endorsements
- Minimum 2 years professional driving experience
- Pass background check and drug screening per federal regulations
- Current First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist students with mobility needs
- Strong communication skills and patience when working with children
- Excellent time management and route navigation abilities
- High school diploma or equivalent required
