Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes while adhering to traffic laws and safety protocols
- Conduct pre-trip/post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance issues
- Supervise student behavior and enforce safety policies during transit
- Assist students with mobility needs and special accommodations as required
- Maintain accurate route documentation and communication with dispatch
- Participate in mandatory safety drills and ongoing training programs
Qualifications
- Valid North Carolina Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
- Clean driving record with no major violations in the past 3 years
- Pass DOT physical examination and drug screening
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist students with mobility needs
- Strong communication skills and patience when working with children
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous driving experience preferred but not required
