Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following strict DC traffic laws
- Conduct pre/post-trip vehicle inspections and maintenance reports
- Manage student behavior with positive reinforcement and safety protocols
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and dispatch
- Adhere to all federal/state transportation regulations (FMCSA)
- Emergency response training implementation during route incidents
- Maintain clean and orderly bus environment daily
Qualifications
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger endorsement
- Minimum 2 years professional driving experience
- DC Department of Transportation school bus certification
- Pass background check and drug screening (DOT compliant)
- First Aid/CPR certification preferred
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to lift 25 lbs and assist students with mobility needs
- Strong knowledge of DC metropolitan roadways
