Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following strict traffic laws and safety protocols
- Conduct pre-trip inspections and maintain vehicle cleanliness
- Supervise students during transit, ensuring orderly behavior and adherence to safety rules
- Communicate effectively with school staff, parents, and dispatch regarding route updates
- Adhere to strict schedules and punctuality standards
- Complete required documentation and incident reports accurately
- Provide emergency first aid when necessary
Qualifications
- Valid New Jersey Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with School Bus endorsement
- Minimum 2 years of professional driving experience
- Pass federal background check and drug screening
- Current First Aid/CPR certification
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and assist students with mobility needs
- Strong communication skills and patience working with children
- Knowledge of Jersey City streets and traffic patterns
- Ability to work flexible hours including early mornings and afternoons
