Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following traffic laws and school schedules
- Conduct pre-trip inspections and maintain vehicle cleanliness
- Ensure student safety through proper boarding, seating, and exiting procedures
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and transportation coordinators
- Adhere to all state and federal transportation regulations
- Manage student behavior with professionalism and care
- Complete accurate daily logs and incident reports
- Respond to emergencies and route changes promptly
Qualifications
- Valid New Jersey Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
- Minimum 2 years of professional driving experience
- Clear driving record and background check
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to pass DOT physical and drug screening
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- First Aid/CPR certification preferred
- Experience working with children preferred
