Responsibilities
- Safely transport students to/from school and field trips according to established routes and schedules
- Conduct pre/post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance needs
- Maintain accurate attendance records and student safety protocols
- Communicate professionally with parents, school staff, and transportation supervisors
- Adhere strictly to traffic laws and DCPS safety regulations
- Manage student behavior using positive reinforcement techniques
- Respond effectively to emergency situations per training protocols
Qualifications
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
- Minimum 2 years professional driving experience
- Pass DOT physical examination and drug screening
- Clear background check and driving record review
- First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and assist students with mobility needs
- Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
- Commitment to student safety and cultural competency
