Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following traffic laws and safety protocols
- Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and functionality
- Supervise student conduct during transit to maintain a secure environment
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and dispatch regarding route updates
- Adhere to strict child safety procedures during loading/unloading
- Maintain accurate records of mileage, incidents, and student counts
- Participate in ongoing safety training and certification updates
Qualifications
- Valid North Carolina Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with School Bus endorsement
- Minimum 1 year professional driving experience
- Pass background check, drug screening, and DOT physical examination
- Excellent driving record with no major violations in past 3 years
- Strong communication skills and ability to manage student behavior
- Ability to work flexible hours (early mornings and afternoons)
- First Aid/CPR certification preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent required
